Experimenting & Gestaltung:
The model workshop of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory
At the model workshop creative experimenting will take place: by using a 3-D printer, a laser cutter, a CNC milling machine and a styro cutter will be possible to understand the process of model construction. Adults and children are invited to work together with researchers from the social and natural sciences and technology, as well as with architects and designers.
Research & Questioning:
The projects of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory
The Interdisciplinary Laboratory deals with problems and questions, which cannot be solved by one single scientific discipline. The projects will be presented through workshops and hands on experiments: How can laboratories be designed? How are pictograms developed? What is the difference between a crab and a crustacean?
17:00 – 18:00 h: Exhibition tour
Place: Haus der Kulturen der Welt, John-Foster-Dulles-Allee 10, 10557 Berlin

Complex problems are difficult to solve within the boundaries of a single scientific discipline; therefore the knowledge and abilities of researchers from different scientific fields are essential. The Interdisciplinary Laboratory. Image Knowledge Gestaltung is such a place gathering social and natural sciences, technology, medicine and, for the first time in foundation research, architecture and design. At the Interdisciplinary Laboratory more than 25 diverse disciplines research the basis processes of designing science. The Interdisciplinary Laboratory started its research in November 1st 2012. At the opening ceremony in June 1st 2013, the directors Horst Bredekamp and Wolfgang Schäffner will present the vision of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory.
