How did an early reptile move 300 million years ago and how can its movement be reconstructed today? The exhibition Orobates. Reanimated after 300 million years shows the work of an interdisciplinary research team.

The project originates in two spectacular finds. An almost complete fossile skeleton and a plate with fossile footprints. The bones have been measured and digitized and the movement capabilities of recent reptiles and salamanders have been compared in experiments. The exhibition presents original finds, models, x-ray footage, animations and a life-sized reptile robot. An interactive archive about the critical history of the research process can be explored.

OROBATES has been curated and designed by students of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar as a joint team.
