Raluca Enescu earned her PhD in Criminology from the University of Lausanne on a topic stemming from her interests in forensic evidence and the choice of verdict in criminal trials. The Swiss Science Foundation funded a large replication with the whole population of judges active in criminal courts. She carried out her further projects at the Free University Berlin on the argumentation of judges in English Crown Courts and at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science about specialist knowledge in German courts. She is currently investigating forensic sciences, wrongful convictions and trial de novo at the Centre Marc Bloch and is an editor for the Directory of Open Access Journals.
