Roles
Interdisciplinary Laboratory

After an apprenticeship and work experience in carpentry, Anja Seliger studied History of Art and Prehistoric and Early Historical Archaeology at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Wooden furnishings are of particular importance to her research and for her Ph.D. project, she examines the design of medieval choir stalls in the Margraviate of Brandenburg in the context of liturgical requirements and the disposition in the sacred space. Anja Seliger is a research associate on the project »Genesis and Genealogy«. She investigates the development of anticlassical styles on the basis of late-Gothic branch tracery style, an ornament form contrary to geometric tracery. The morphology of vegetal ornaments through the choice of material and workmanship technique is of particular interest to her.
