Interdisciplinary Laboratory

Carola Becker studied at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, completing a dissertation entitled »European Pea Crabs – Taxonomy, morphology and host-ecology (Crustacea, Brachyura, Pinnotheridae)« in 2010. Until 2012, she was an employee of the Senckenberg Research Institute in Frankfurt am Main and of the Deutsche Zentrum für Marine Biodiversitätsforschung (German Centre for Marine Biodiversity Research - DZMB) in Wilhelmshaven. Her research interests are crustacea, morphology, taxonomy, marine biology and the deep sea. Her current subject of research is the evolution of internal fertilisation in crabs.

At the Interdisciplinary Laboratory, she and her colleagues from the Psychology and History of Art departments are hoping to identify, in terms of attentional control in the eyes of the viewer, the morphological and design characteristics that lead to classification decisions based on form.
