Christina Vagt is Assistant Professor of European Media Studies at the University of California Santa Barbara. Between 2015 and 2017, she was appointed Interim Chair of History and Culture of Knowledge at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 2015. She has a degree in Cultural Sciences and in History from the Humboldt-Universität, was a DFG scholarship recipient, and a member of the graduate school Media Historiography in Weimar. She completed her doctoral project on physics and medium in Heideggerian thought in 2011 at the Bauhaus Universität Weimar. She was Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Comparative Studies at the Standford University in 2012, and beginning winter semester 2016/17 she will be occupying the position of Senior Fellow of the DFG research college Media Cultures of Computer Simulation (MECS) at the Leuphana Universität Lüneburg. Her research interests are cultural techniques, technology and media philosophy, media and knowledge history in the natural sciences, as well as design and engineering.
