Erika Holter

Erika Holter is a classical archaeologist. Whilst working on the project »Mobile Spaces«, she is writing a dissertation on the topic »Bewegungslenkung am Boden: Untersuchungen zur Mosaikausstattung römischer Wohnhäuser«. (Guidance of edaphic movement: an investigation of tessellated flooring in Roman housing). Here, ancient patterns of movement and controlling mechanisms through the decorative arrangements of the tessellated flooring are her main focus. Digital reconstructions of houses will be an important part of the analysis.  In her collaboration with the Winckelmann-Institut für Klassische Archäologie (Winckelmann Institute of Classical Archaeology) within the current project »DigiFoRo – Digitales Forum Romanum« she addresses the presentation and »presentability« of ancient spaces. After a study visit at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Cultural History and Theory and Gender Studies at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. In 2013, she finished her studies with a Master’s degree in classical archaeology at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
