Ietza Zepeda received her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with a concentration on Hermeneutics and Perception Theory from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) in April of 2014. From 2014 to 2015 she was employed by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where she worked chiefly with the Warburg-Haus political iconography image index in Hamburg.
In 2015 she began pursuing a Master’s degree in Transcultural Studies at the Universität Heidelberg. Her focus areas are visual media, material culture, and political iconography.
In the Priority Area project, Ietza Zepeda will be working on the classification of extensive image materials on political iconography, using the Warburg-Haus political iconography image index as a guideline. Her work will contribute to the creation of a global image database based at the HU in the Cluster of Excellence Image Knowledge Gestaltung, in cooperation with partner projects at the universities in Mexico City, London, and Hamburg.
She is responsible for daily image monitoring of selected political subject areas in the Mexican press.
