Since 2006, Joseph Vogl has been Professor of Literature, Cultural and Media Studies at the Department of Germanic Languages and Literature at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Prior to this, he held a professorship in the History and Theory of Artificial Worlds at the Department of Media Studies at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. He has conducted research, for instance as a Visiting Professor at the Department of German at the University of California. In addition, he has been a Permanent Visiting Professor at the Department of German at Princeton University since 2007.
Research interests
History and theory of knowledge, history of risk and danger in the modern age, discourse and media theory, literary history from the 18th to the 20th century.
