Kathrin Mira Amelung is an investigator in the working group »Morphology and History of Form« in the Cluster of Excellence »Image Knowledge Gestaltung« at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. She is both an expert in Media and Cultural Studies and an illustrator (Dipl.) with several years of experience.
She graduated with a degree in Media Culture from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, receiving high honors for her Master’s thesis titled »Zum Begriff der wissenschaftlichen Illustration als Medienbegriff« (On the Concept of Scientific Illustration as a Media Concept). As a graduate student, she worked as research asistant and tutor for the chair of Philosophy of Audiovisual Media. She also initiated the conference series »Aspekte kulturwissenschaftlicher Medienforschung« (Aspects of Media Research in Cultural Studies) of the Master’s program Media Culture, which has been taking place every year at the Bauhaus-Universität since 2010. Additionally, she was a scholarship recipient of the Bauhaus Scholarship of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar from 2011 to 2012.
Kathrin Mira Amelung is an Associated Member of the »Image Act«, headed by Horst Bredekamp and Jürgen Trabant, at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
She is also an Associated member of the Kompetenzzentrum Medienanthropologie (KOMA) of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
