Roles
Interdisciplinary Laboratory
Priority Area Projects:

Marianthi Papalexandri Alexandri was International Fellow in the base project »Analogue Storage Media«. Within this framework, she was working on the research project »The materiality of notation, musical instruments as analogue archives«.

Papalexandri graduated as a composer from Goldsmith’s College, University of London, continuing her studies at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna and completing a PhD in music composition at the University of California, San Diego, in 2008. From 2011 to 2012, she was an Artist in Residence at the Academy Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart.

Papalexandri’s works are at the borderlines of sound art, musical composition, visual objects and performance, and they explore the factors that link these art forms. The world of sound and the visual appearance of the works are in continuous interaction, and they are uncompromisingly precise, pure and economical in their means.
