Stefan Ullrich is a computer scientist with an urge to critically question the effects of information technology on society. Since 2011 he has been the spokesperson for the team of specialists »Informatik und Ethik« at the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (German Informatics Society) and a doctoral candidate under the supervision of Professor Wolfgang Coy.
At the centre of the project »Shaping Knowledge« is the question of how knowledge is generated, organised and preserved through hybrid, complex cultural artefacts. The aim is to investigate the complex relationship between physical information carriers and their digital counterparts, as well as the way in which digital information objects can be truly understood.
