Stefan Zachow heads »medical planning« and co-heads »computational medicine« groups at Zuse-Institute Berlin (ZIB). His interests are computer-assisted model-guided surgery, visualisation, medical image computing, geometric modeling, surgery planning, and simulation. Stefan Zachow received a degree in computer engineering (M.S.) in 1991, and a degree in computer science (M.S.) in 1999. He finished a postgraduate study in Medical Physics in 2002 and obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2005. He is a member of the board of directors of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Computer- und Roboterassistierte Chirurgie (German society for computer- and robot- assisted surgery) (CURAC) and a representative of Gesellschaft für Informatik (the German Informatics Society), in the area of visual computing in biology and medicine (VCBM).
