Elodie A. Roy is a visiting member of the Institut für Kulturwissenschaft at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. She received her PhD from the International Centre for Music Studies (Newcastle University, UK), with a previous background in cultural history and theory. She is the author of »Media, Materiality, Memory: Grounding the Groove« (Ashgate/Routledge, 2015) and of other publications engaging with the visual and material culture of recorded sound. She coorganised the international conferences »Musical Materialities in the Digital Age« (University of Sussex) and »Material Culture in Action: Practices of making, collecting and re-enacting art and design« (Glasgow School of Art). She is the curriculum developer for a new programme in theories and practices of material culture at the Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities and a dissertation supervisor at the Glasgow School of Art. Her previous positions included researcher in material culture at the Glasgow School of Art, editorial assistant for the journal »Radical Musicology«, as well as seminar leader at the University of Newcastle, Sunderland University and the University of Cambridge. Elodie contributed pieces to a number of exhibitions including »Radiophrenia« (Glasgow Centre for Contemporary Arts, Spring 2015) and »A Partial Index« (Baltic 39, Newcastle, Summer 2014).
