Joerg Fingerhut has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Berlin School of Mind & Brain (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) in a project on »consciousness, emotions, values« since 2015. The research topics he coordinates therein are »embodied perception« and »psychological aesthetics.« His focus is on philosophy of mind with an emphasis on the role cultural artifacts (like architecture, film, picture) play for our mind. He also conducts experiments exploring our multifaceted relationships to artworks.
He received his PhD in 2013 at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin with a thesis on contemporary theories of embodied cognition and the extended mind. He was a member of the Collegium »Picture Act and Embodiment.« He was a part of the interdisciplinary research group »Functions of Consciousness« at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities as well as »Art & Neuroscience Fellow« at the Italian Academy at Columbia University New York.
