Jörg H. Gleiter is the Chair of Architectural Theory at the Technische Universität Berlin. Since April 2015, he has been the Managing Director of the Institute for Architecture (IfA) and a member of the Academic Senate of the Technische Universität Berlin. He studied at the University of Tübingen, the Technische Universität Berlin (Dipl.-Ing.), the IUAV (Venice University Institute of Architecture) and at Columbia University in New York (M.S. in Advanced Architectural Design). He has worked as an architect at Eisenman Architects (New York), Leeser Architecture (New York) and at various architects’ practices in Italy and Germany. In 2002, he was awarded his doctorate with summa cum laude by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on »The Return of the Repressed. On the Critical Theory of Ornament«. In 2007 he qualified as a professor at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar with his habilitation on »Nietzsche and the Physiology of Architecture«. Venia legendi (university teaching qualification) for Architectural Philosophy. Visiting Professor in Venice (Venice International University, 2003), Tokyo (Waseda University, 2003–2005), Weimar (Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, 2005–2007) and Bolzano (Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, 2005–2008). He edits the series ArchitekturDenken (Transcript Verlag, Bielefeld) and is a co-editor of the online journal for architectural theory »Cloud-Cuckoo-Land«.
