Tullio Viola majored in Philosophy and the humanities in Pisa, Lyon and Berlin from 2004 to 2009. Since 2010 he has been working on a doctoral degree in Philosophy with the title »Philosophy and History: The Legacy of Peirce’s Realism«.
He is a member of the research training group »Picture Act« and is also working on »Symbolic articulations«, a project financed by VolkswagenStiftung (Volkswagen Foundation). In this context he plans to investigate the circumstances of different symbolic forms of expression, as well as their function as conceptual articulation within a theory of philosophy. His broader interests cover aesthetics and cultural philosophy, social theory and intellectual history.
